Features
Sandusky Bay is an important harbor on Lake Erie for both commercial and recreational boat traffic. Most of the marinas and commercial facilities are located in Sandusky and along the north shore of the eastern bay. A popular amusement park and many related tourist attractions are located at Cedar Point. Cold Creek is one of the few coldwater tributaries along the Ohio shoreline. Brown trout and an occasional steelhead are drawn to this area. Special regulations apply to fishing the Sandusky River during spring. Consult the current Ohio fishing regulations for details.
Forage
Spottail shiner and gizzard shad provide the bulk of the forage. Crayfish are also utilized.
Seasonal Movements
Major runs of walleye and white bass move up into the Sandusky River in early spring. Yellow perch and channel catfish from Lake Erie also utilize areas in the bay for spawning.
