Overview

Alexander is considered by many as one of the best walleye lakes in Central Minnesota. High numbers of quality smallmouth and largemouth bass. Also muskie and northern pike. Plenty of structure.

Special Fishing regulations: This lake has special fishing regulations that differ from statewide or border water regulations for those species identified below and take precedence.   • Northern Pike: All from 24-36” must be immediately released. Possession limit three, only one over 36”.

Features

Like Fish Trap, Lake Alexander offers opportunities for watching pelicans, loons and bald eagles. Ice fishing is popular on the lake and attracts anglers from throughout the state. A local bait shop provides ice house rental. Lake Alexander can be dangerous in strong northwest or southeast winds. Rollers of 5-feet have been reported. Islands and south side bays offer shelter during high winds, but anglers should heed small craft warnings.

Forage

Tullibee, perch, panfish, blacknose shiner, spottail shiner, bluntnose minnow and white sucker comprise the forage base.
