Indian Creek RMEF Public Access Project

• Description: 231 acres of private land purchased by the RMEF are now open to the public, connecting over 330,000 acres of BLM land in the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument.

Just east of the oldest lake in North America, you’ll find one of the most biologically productive areas in the country. Chaparral ecosystems and oak forests at lower elevations transition into thick stands of evergreens mixed with exposed rock formations at higher elevations, creating perfect habitats for a variety of game species. From lush riparian wetlands north of Clear Lake to the stunning vistas of the Pacific Ridge, chances are this area has what you’re looking for.

Most of the land surrounding Clear Lake is privately owned, but 330,708 acres managed by the BLM were declared a National Monument in 2015 and are open to the public. Two sections of the monument were separated by just 400 yards of privately owned land, so to stitch these parcels together, RMEF purchased the property and opened it to everyone. Now outdoorsmen and women can access these public lands more easily and move between the two sections without trespassing or trekking for miles all the way around.
