Lost Creek Canyon Falls

The hike into Lost Creek Canyon inside the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is a short hikea0.9 miles round tripainto a canyon where, if the conditions are right, a waterfall emerges from a rock chute 40 feet up into a box canyon. Though most often the falls will be a trickle, this trail packs a diversity of features onto its short path. The hike begins by crossing a wash and walking across a boardwalk built to protect a willow thicket that grows along the creek. At this point, a fork with the Children's Discovery Loop Trail splits off, which passes other desert flora along the base of the canyon walls. Just a little bit further, the trail enters the shade of creek-fed trees and a boulder tunnel before coming up on the grotto where the falls will have the best flow during the winter and spring months or after a storm. Otherwise, there may be little to no flow. From here, retrace your path back to the parking lot. There is a vault toilet at the parking area. There is no water available here.
